Júlio César has revealed that it was the promise of regular first-team football that lured the Brazilian goalkeeper from Internazionale to Queens Park Rangers.

The 32-year-old is on the brink of joining the west Londoners after falling down the pecking order at the San Siro.

QPR boss Mark Hughes, who has already recruited Rob Green this summer, admitted the chance to sign the Brazil international was too good to turn down on Tuesday and César has now confirmed he is set to sign for the Hoops.

“I will leave Inter, I want to thank everyone for these seven wonderful years,” César told Rete Globo.

“I would like to be on the pitch before Inter-Roma to hug all the fans. That would be a nice gesture and I don’t think the president will deny me that.

“I choose to join QPR because I think will play more than at Inter and Premier League is watched worldwide.

He added: “I am a bit surprised, but I am delighted to have been given the opportunity by QPR to come to London, learn English and play in the Premier League.

“It all started during my summer vacation, when Inter suggested that I reduce my salary. No player in my situation would have done that – I am not a hypocrite and I can talk openly about this.

“It became a tough situation for both parties. I then spoke to my representative and I thought this was a good choice.”

César has made 227 appearances for Inter since joining from Chievo, winning five Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias and the Champions League in 2010.
