Júlio César is on the verge of swapping Internazionale for Queens Park Rangers in what will be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.

The 32-year-old has won five Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias and the Champions League during a glittering eight-year spell at the San Siro, and QPR fans backed the club’s move for the Brazil goalkeeper on Twitter.

Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye.

Mikey Cotton ([email protected]) is excited by the potential deal: “Júlio César to QPR would be an outstanding signing for them.”

Alex ‏(@VillaAlex91) believes QPR are ‘doing a Portsmouth’: “Júlio César to QPR… How on earth..? Their wage bill must be huge… Sigh… Doing a Pompey???”

While Andy Parsons ‏(@andypars) thinks QPR are signing players who are past their best: “Júlio César to QPR? I think every fallen big-time Charlie in the world has been linked to QPR. What’s another word for ‘mercenary’ anyone?”

Robbie Pickering (@R_Pickering99) believes César’s imminent arrival spells the end for Rob Green: “Júlio César to #QPR! Keep that seat warm on the bench Rob Green – you have never been good enough for the #EPL anyway! #WOW”

Emma Minaj (@Smileyemms) can’t believe the transfer rumour: “Júlio César to QPR, if you told me that four years ago I would have sent you to the nut house.”

Andrew Beech ([email protected]) is shocked César has not been snapped up by another club: “Júlio César to QPR massive signing, suprised he hasn’t had interest from anyone else. No doubt stupid money is being thrown about!”

Gooniverse ([email protected]) calls César’s possible move to west London as the biggest transfer story of the summer – even bigger than Robin van Persie: “Júlio César to QPR?! Wow, probably the most insane transfer this window, wages, pedigree and the fact they’ve already bought Rob Green!”

Dan Dorrington ‏(@DannyDizzoo) can’t understand why Mark Hughes originally signed Green: “Júlio César to QPR? Great signing, I don’t know why they signed Rob Green in the first place, he’s useless!”

Mr Bruce Wain ([email protected]) believes it spells the end for Green: “Júlio César to QPR? WOW and for like nothing. thats a great transfer deal from QPR. Rob Green only played two games and is replaced. Ha!”

Nabeel Qureshi ([email protected]) reckons the Brazilian goalkeeper is on a downward spiral: “Júlio César to QPR isn’t really a big deal. Well past his best from 2010!”

Nathan (@OutSideTheArea) agrees: “Júlio César to QPR isn’t that surprising. If anyone saw Inter during the last two years, they would realise he is a shadow of himself now.”

Finally, Petros Hajioannou ‏(@Pets930) is a jealous Crystal Palace fan: “Júlio César to QPR? As much as I hate QPR, like really hate QPR! They have been making some very good signings!”
