The 18-year-old is set to become Sir Alex Ferguson’s third signing of the summer, but Red Devils supporters appeared more desperate for news of any potential deal for Robin van Persie on Twitter.

Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye.

Hisham ([email protected]_tkh) knows nothing about Henríquez: “Ángelo Henríquez? Who’s that?”

And he’s not the only one – Gary Hind ‏(@gazzhind): “Is this Ángelo Henríquez any good? I can’t say I’ve heard of him before #mufc!”

But Alex Terrell ([email protected]) comes to their rescue with a description of the striker’s attributes: “Ángelo Henríquez looks a small, on the shoulder-of-the-last-defender type striker, good movement, creates space, bags of pace (sort of similar to Javier Hernández).”

Meanwhile, Andy Fowler ‏(@AndyFowlerMusic) is hoping Henríquez’s arrival doesn’t spell the end of Robin van Persie’s reported move to United: “I hope Angelo Henriquez isn’t instead of RVP…”

Loke Weng Kin ‏(@LwinLoke) reckons it does: “So Ángelo Henríquez signed for Man Utd, I guess no more Van Persie.”

But James Prentice ‏(@JWHPrentice) is still holding out hope: “Ángelo Henríquez. Man Utd’s new player – I caught some snippets on YouTube. Looks decent! Need to sign the big man ASAP though #RVP.”

Stefan Georgiou ([email protected]) would be delighted to pip Manchester City to Henríquez’s signature: “Please let’s sign Ángelo Henríquez, it will be even sweeter because City want him too #united!”

Sadat Bicaku ([email protected]) is pleased with the prospective signing: “Ángelo Henríquez is a good young talent for #manutd!”

Craig Smith Smithy ‏(@Smithy0100) is excited but wants Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney to be first choice up front at United: “Ángelo Henríquez has gone to Man Utd – he’s class for 18! Hell of a striker! Hopefully Welbeck and Rooney will still be prioritised!”

But Rob Friend ‏(@RobMFriend) can’t see the Chilean going straight into United’s first-team: “I wonder if Ángelo Henríquez will go straight out on loan or play for reserves? #MUFC”

Suhaib Hussain ‏(@MSuhaibH)thinks United’s squad now has too many strikers: “Wow, Man Utd’s signing Ángelo Henríquez came out of nowhere! Welcome. Too many strikers though? :S But we will see what happens! #Potential”

Izzoh ‏(@guzlah_cfc) is an unhappy Chelsea fan: “So #ManUtd are signing £2m kids and calling them wonder kids! What a joke. Who is Ángelo Henríquez? Better than Hazard! No!”

Finally, Amarit Bains ‏(@amaritbains) would like to see Ferguson focusing on United’s midfield instead of signing strikers: “Welcome to Manchester, Ángelo Henríquez. Centre midfield looking a bit lightweight though.”
