Tips: Why Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski is sure to score against Sunderland
The Tipster is backing Lukas Podolski to help Arsenal fans forget Robin van Persie by scoring against Sunderland on Saturday

There’s been plenty of football over the summer months, but there’s nothing quite like the Premier League. The Tipster is relishing the new season and is backing Lukas Podolski to help Arsenal forget about Robin van Persie by scoring against Sunderland on Saturday.
Our resident betting expert is tipping the Germany international to net at any time in a narrow Gunners victory, while also backing West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool to share the spoils at the Hawthorns – and Tottenham to earn a point at Newcastle United.

Podolski to score at any time against Sunderland – 21/20
Podolski has arrived in the Premier League with a big reputation, and even bigger shoes to fill after Van Persie sealed a £24m move to Manchester United this week. The 27-year-old scored 18 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances for Cologne last season, and he netted a brace for Arsenal against his former employers in a pre-season game last Sunday. The Tipster’s opening foray for this edition is Podolski to score any time against Sunderland at solid odds of 21/20.
Bet365 odds
Arsenal to win by a single goal against Sunderland – 13/5
Two of the last three meetings between Arsenal and Sunderland have been decided by a single goal – and on both those occasions the Gunners emerged victorious. With a hectic pre-season out of the way, this opening Premier League fixture should be a tight affair. Last season, Arsène Wenger’s side won six of their 19 games by a one-goal margin, and the Tipster reckons Arsenal to win by a single goal against Sunderland is great value at 13/5.
Bet365 odds
West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool to draw – 5/2
Liverpool racked up a staggering 10 draws in the Premier League last season as Kenny Dalglish led the Reds to a disappointing eighth-place finish. Both clubs have since changed their managers, and Steve Clarke will be looking to avoid defeat in his first game in charge. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to improve on a 1-0 defeat by the Baggies at Anfield back in April. The Tipster is predicting a hard-fought draw between West Brom and Liverpool at 5/2.
Bet365 odds
Newcastle and Tottenham to draw – 12/5
Newcastle surprised everybody last season with a respectable top-five finish, just behind Tottenham in fourth. The meeting between these two sides will be an early indication of their respective potential for success this season. Tottenham’s last two visits to St James’ Park have finished in draws – 2-2 and 1-1 – and the Tipster expects a cagey affair in Saturday’s late kick-off, predicting a draw at tempting odds of 12/5.

The long shot: Long to score first against Liverpool – 9/1
Shane Long netted eight goals in his first season at West Brom after moving from Reading last summer. The Republic of Ireland striker earned a reputation as a big-game player, netting against Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle as he helped West Brom finish in 10th place. The Tipster’s audacious long-range effort for this edition is Long to score first against Liverpool at brilliant odds of 9/1. ![]()
