Wigan 0 Chelsea 2: Frank Lampard is full of praise for Premier League debutant Eden Hazard after an impressive display

Frank Lampard was full of praise for Eden Hazard after the Chelsea new-boy sparkled on his Premier League debut as the Blues coasted to victory at Wigan Athletic.
Roberto Di Matteo’s men took the lead inside two minutes at the DW Stadium when Hazard’s excellent turn allowed him to escape his marker and slip in Branislav Ivanovic, who made no mistake from close range.
And the Blues doubled their advantage from the spot five minutes later after the impressive Hazard was tripped by Ivan Ramis in the box and Lampard tucked away the penalty.
Wigan battled hard for the remainder of the game but were unable to find a breakthrough as the west Londoners secured their first win of the new season.
“It was a very tough game,” Lampard told Sky Sports. “We started very well, through this man [Hazard] mainly, and it was great football. After that it was a pretty even game but we always had that lead.
“He [Hazard] was brilliant. It’s not easy at a young age to come into the Premier League, no matter how good a player you are.
“You saw the quality the that he brought with the spin to put Ivanovic through and the speed to get away from his man for the penalty.
“It’s something that I know the Chelsea fans are crying out to see and he’s great to play with.
“He showed glimpses of that in pre-season for us and it’s great to have a player like that in the team.” ![]()
