Manchester United are interested in signing Sassuolo youngster Domenico Berardi, according to the Serie B outfit’s general director.

The Under-19 Italy international has impressed in Serie B, scoring once and creating two goals for Sassuolo already this season.

Berardi’s eye-catching displays have reportedly caught the attention of Italian champions Juventus and United, with Sassuolo’s general director Nereo Bonato also claiming that the Premier League heavyweights are keeping tabs on the teenager.

“The interest from Manchester United? The player is followed with great attention by many clubs, including the Red Devils and also Juventus,” Bonato told Sky Sports.

“But there are other Italian and foreign sides who have observed him in recent games.

“For the moment there has been no concrete contact, so we’re thinking about the present and how to develop Berardi in the best way.”

Bonato refused to rule out the possibility of cashing in on the teenager if a club came in with a big-money offer for the striker.

“We are open to all options. We’ll see how things are going and how the situation develops,” he added.

“Domenico deserves attention; he has great qualities and he’s showing it.

“He has a contract with us until 2015 and if some big club should come forward we will see what is best for everyone.”

Ferguson signed Robin van Persie from Arsenal this summer in a £24m deal, while also adding Ángelo Henríquez to his attacking options which include Javier Hernández, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck.
