Juan Mata’s brace helped Chelsea to a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur and maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Edin Dzeko scored twice as Manchester City beat West Bromwich Albion, and Manchester United were 4-2 winners against Stoke City, while Liverpool beat Reading 1-0.

Here is some of the reaction from the professionals to Saturday’s games.

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole ‏(@TheRealAC3) is pleased with three valuable points: “Big result for us today, great win once again thanks #cfc fans never gave up believing in us!”

Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone (‏@TomHuddlestone6) is disappointed to throw away a lead: “S**t result today, got to be better especially when we took the lead, a lot more to play for though, keep the support and faith!”

Spurs winger Aaron Lennon ‏(@Aaron7Lennon) is confident the club will respond: “Disappointing result today especially having gone 2-1 up but we will bounce back, thanks for the messages great support as usual!”

City striker Sergio Aguero (‏@aguerosergiokun) is philosophical: “As I always say, never quit and keep up the fight. Another great win for @MCFC to stay in the race.”

Maicon (‏@realmaicon) heaps more praise on City’s star man: “Great game from @EdDzeko today. Congratulations brother!”

Stoke City defender Robert Huth ‏(@robert_huth) did not enjoy events at Old Trafford: “Well that was f**king tough!”

While Potters forward Michael Owen ‏(@themichaelowen) says thanks for all the support: “Big thanks to the United fans for welcoming me back and great to hear our fans in full voice. Sunderland at the Brit next week.”

Liverpool striker Luis Suárez ‏(@luis16suarez) praises Raheem Sterling: “Happy for the win, I’d like to congratulate Raheem Sterling for his first official goal in the Premier League!!”

Reds goalkeeper Brad Jones (‏@Brad_Jones1) enjoyed a rare start: “Great to get out on the green stuff today! Good result, could’ve been more. Thank you all for the great reception. It’s an honour! #LFC #YNWA”

Reading striker Jason Roberts ‏(@JasonRoberts30) vows to keep plugging away: “Just thinking back…..THANK YOU TO THE TRAVELLING ROYALS FANS! Your support was amazing..I will give you ALL that I have…”

The Royals’ Irish forward Noel hunt (‏@boyhunt) felt the visitors were unlucky: “So gutted for the boys we had a few chances in the second half!! Liverpool a very good side!! But we can take a lot of pluses from this performance!”

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour ‏(@RealRomfordPele) is not happy with the Gunners’ display: “Every single game you have to treat it like your last game or cup final if you want to be successful. Norwich wanted it more! We all no Arsenal have a lot more quality than Norwich! You have to match their desire and work-rate also!”

Finally, Piers Morgan ‏(@piersmorgan) lambasts Arsenal: “Worst performance of the season. Truly, gut-wrenchingly, shockingly, diabolical. #Arsenal”
