As the end of the London 2012 Paralympics signalled the conclusion of a spectacular summer of sport in London, it is time to reflect on a phenomenal few months for the capital.

But despite Team GB’s stunning on-field achievements, the 2012 Games were also a resounding technological success.

BT were charged with connecting the world to the greatest sporting event through their state-of-the art communications network and the video, ‘the Story of the Games’, provides a fascinating insight into the people who helped deliver the results for the firm.

“The requirements for resilience, capability and bandwidth were like no other,” explains BT CEO Ian Livingstone in the video.

“Our network for the Olympics can handle capacity that is seven times that was provided in Beijing. When everything’s connected, anything’s possible.”

The technology requirements for the London 2012 Games were clearly the most demanding of any Olympics to date, yet the apparently seamless delivery is down to the hard work of thousands of individuals who pulled together to make Britain proud.

This video gives a unique insight into some of unsung heroes behind the Games and how their input helped deliver such a memorable summer of sport to Britain and the world.
