Man Utd’s Welbeck enjoying England strike partnership with Rooney
Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck admits he is relishing the chance to play alongside Wayne Rooney for England

Danny Welbeck has revealed he is relishing the chance to play alongside his Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney for England.
The 21-year-old scored twice for Roy Hodgson’s men in a 5-1 victory over San Marino at Wembley on Friday night, with Rooney, who captained the Three Lions, also netting a brace.
Welbeck is delighted to see an understanding flourish between the pair, and the former Sunderland striker is looking forward to continuing his partnership with Rooney.
“I’m used to playing with Wazza up front at United and am really relishing the chance to play with him for England,” he said.
“Once we get into positions in and around the box, we know different styles of combinations to play.”
England’s emphatic win against San Marino has left Hodgson’s side top of Group H as they look to automatically qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
Next up for the Three Lions is a difficult clash against Euro 2012 co-hosts Poland, and Welbeck is confident England can continue their good form in Warsaw.
“Now we’re all really looking forward to the Poland game,” he added.
“It’s going to be difficult but once we get on the pitch, we’re going to show our stuff and show everybody what we can do.
“We are top of the group now. That’s where we want to be, that’s the main aim, and that’s where we want to finish as well.” ![]()
