‘Man Utd have a great chance of winning Champions League’
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is backing his side to mount a serious challenge for this year's Champions League

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Manchester United can mount a serious challenge for this year’s Champions League crown.
The Red Devils failed to navigate their way out of the group stage last season after being beaten in the 2011 final by Barcelona at Wembley.
United, who take on Braga at Old Trafford on Tuesday, were also losing finalists to the Catalan giants in 2009, with their last European triumph coming in 2008 and their victory over Chelsea in Moscow.
Ferguson admits he has been “frustrated” at not having won the competition more often – but the Red Devils boss is hoping the prospect of playing in another Wembley final this season will act as an added incentive for his side.
“If I can get my defenders back, we’ll have a great chance,” said Ferguson.
“It is a frustration that we have not won the Champions League more often, especially when I think of the times we’ve thrown it away. But you can’t let it eat away at you.
“You’ve always got the next year. The final is at Wembley this season and that’s a great incentive for us.
“The objective is to get through to the knock-out rounds. We want to do it the right way.” ![]()
