Collymore, Hamann & Thompson: Twitter reacts to Reds’ Anfield plans
Stan Collymore, Didi Hamann and Phil Thompson all Tweet their thoughts on Liverpool's plans to redevelop Anfield

Liverpool have announced that they plan to redevelop Anfield rather than build a new stadium in Stanley Park.
The Reds are planning to extend the capacity from 45,276 to around 60,000, with the club hoping work will begin in 2014.
Here are the thoughts of three former Liverpool stars on the news of Anfield’s proposed redevelopment.
Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann (@DietmarHamann) is happy Liverpool are staying at their spiritual home: “Great news about Anfield getting redeveloped. I think that’s the news most fans wanted to hear.”
Ex-Liverpool captain Phil Thompson (@Phil_Thompson4) is also delighted by the news: “Pleased with announcement about Anfield, desperate for 60,000 and for regeneration of the area! New stadium would have been nice but there’s nothing like home. No dragging heels let’s get started as soon as possible!”
But former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) believes Liverpool would be best served building a new stadium: “#LFC should do everything to build a new stadium. 85,000 capacity. Super Kop 25,000 and three stands at 20,000 .Huge revenue = success. If #LFC get anywhere near top the top four in the next few years, they’d easily fill it. No London prices to pay, huge fan base.
He added: “More corporate at new Anfield would easily keep tix affordable and new stadium for huge clubs will always get a big take up of fans. You can’t compare The Emirates to a new #LFC stadium. Different fan base, location and pricing. Always would have liked to see a new LFC stadium where echo arena in. Would have been awesome next to the river.” ![]()
