The Tipster is backing Theo Walcott to give Arsène Wenger yet another timely reminder about his predatory instincts in a central role by netting against Southampton on New Year’s Day.

Our man-in-the-know is also predicting Robin van Persie to score any time and Manchester United to beat Wigan Athletic by two goals or more at DW Stadium.

And the Tipster reckons goals will be at a premium when Manchester City take on Stoke City at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal’s Walcott to score any time v Southampton – 11/8

Walcott didn’t let the Tipster down on the last matchday, when our betting expert tipped him to find the net – so his bet of the week is Walcott to score any time on New Year’s Day. He netted a fantastic hat-trick against Newcastle last time out and the Tipster expects the former Saints man to get chances against Nigel Adkins’ defence.

Man Utd’s Van Persie to score first v Wigan – 11/4

With Nemanja Vidić back, the Tipster expects the Red Devils to be a bit more solid at the back and you would expect Robin van Persie to be on the end of most chances. He has scored in six of his last seven games and will be that bit fresher having only been on the pitch for 20 minutes last time out. Van Persie to score first is clearly worth a punt at 11/4!

Man Utd to beat Wigan by two goals or more – 11/8

The Tipster expects United to continue their outstanding record against Wigan. They have won 14 of their 15 league encounters and boast the best away record in the division, having collected 22 points from their 10 games away from Old Trafford. United won the reverse fixture 4-0 and the Tipster expects them to win this comfortably too. United to win by two goals or more is very appealing at 11/8.

Under 2.5 goals between Man City v Stoke – 23/20

It’s not news that Stoke set up very defensively away from home. And it’s reflected in their results, with their last five league away games having produced less than 2.5 goals. City have struggled against certain teams even at the Etihad, where they needed a last-minute goal to beat Reading. The Tipster likes the look of under 2.5 goals at 23/20.

The long shot: Swansea to score over 3.5 goals v Villa – 6/1

Paul Lambert’s men have crumbled since winning 3-1 at Liverpool just before Christmas. Chelsea were emphatic 8-0 winners at Stamford Bridge against Villa before the Birmingham outfit lost 3-1 to fellow relegation candidates Wigan Athletic. Swansea are on a two-game winning streak, and with Michu back, the Tipster is backing the Swans to score over 3.5 goals against Villa at 6/1. Remember, you heard it here first. Happy New Year!
