The Red Devils have been linked with moves for a host of players in recent weeks, including the likes of Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski and Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.
But Ferguson, whose side are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, says he does not intend to bolster his ranks next month because there is less value for clubs in the winter window.
Ferguson told Eurosport-Yahoo: “No [United do not have any plans to strengthen in January]. The January transfer market has never been the best market and that has proved itself over the years.
“You get very few big transfers – all the big transfers are done in the summer.”
Manchester United travel to Swansea City in the Premier League on Sunday.
