Christian Eriksen believes he will finish the season at Ajax despite reports linking the Denmark international with a January move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old star has been linked with a switch to the Premier League in recent weeks after an eye-catching display against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Eriksen’s former team-mate Jan Vertonghen, who joined Spurs in the summer, encouraged the midfielder to swap the Amsterdam Arena for White Hart Lane earlier this week.

But the Danish star reckons he will stay at Frank De Boer’s side until the end of the season as Ajax look to win their third successive Eredivisie title.

“I have read that, but it is just a rumour,” he told Sky Sports.

“It also depends on what Ajax want, but I hope and believe that I will finish the season at Ajax.”

He added: “One day I will take that step, but I don’t know when.

“Of course, it also depends on which clubs are interested at that time.”
