The Tipster is expecting a lukewarm welcome for Southampton’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino on Monday night – but is backing Rickie Lambert to give the home fans something to cheer about by scoring against Everton.

Our resident betting expert expects the night to end in misery for the Saints, tipping a high scoring game but Everton to emerge victorious.

And who will fire Everton to victory? He reckons Victor Anichebe and Leighton Baines will be amongst the goals at St Mary’s.

Lambert to score any time v Everton – 15/8

The Tipster can’t quite believe the value here. Rickie Lambert is Southampton’s top scorer this season with an impressive 10 goals in 19 Premier League appearances. The 30-year-old is in good form too, scoring four goals in his last five outings. With Pochettino unlikely to risk leaving the striker out and incur the wrath of an already upset fanbase, the Tipster is backing Lambert to score any time at 15/8.

Everton to beat Southampton – Evens

It’s been a difficult week for Southampton, with Nigel Adkins’ departure leaving a sour taste in the mouth. Pochettino is hardly facing a gentle Premier League baptism – David Moyes is one of the most experienced managers in the top flight. Everton are unbeaten in their last four away games, including back-to-back victories in January. So, Everton to beat an out-of-sorts Southampton looks a good shout at Evens.

Both teams to score in Southampton v Everton – 15/4

Everton were held to a very rare goalless draw by Swansea City in their last Premier League outing. It was certainly a collector’s item as the Toffees have only kept one other clean sheet this season. In fact, both sides have scored in 18 of their 24 games. It’s a similar story for the Saints, with both teams scoring in four of their last five games. So unsurprisingly, that’s the Tipster’s bet here at 15/4.

Everton’s Anichebe to score v Saints – 12/5

Anichebe has been used as an impact substitute for much of his Everton career and he is currently in the shadow of Nikica Jelavic. However, the Nigeria international is in good form for the Toffees, having scored in both of their last two games away from Goodison Park in the league. It took his tally to four goals for the campaign. The Tipster is backing Anichebe to net at generous odds of 12/5.

The long shot: Baines to score any time – 15/4

Arguably England’s best left-back, Leighton Baines has impressed again this season and the Toffees star is pushing Ashley Cole for a starting berth in Roy Hodgson’s England side. The defender has scored three goals this term, including a magnificent free-kick against Newcastle United at St James’ Park earlier this month. The Tipster’s long shot for this edition is Baines to score any time at 15/4.
