Andrea Pirlo says Frank Lampard would be a “welcome” addition to Juventus – but the Italy legend admits that Chelsea would be “mad” to let the midfielder leave this summer.

The 34-year-old’s agent last week revealed that the Champions League winners have made it clear the England international will not be offered a new deal when his current contract expires at the end of the season.

It has prompted speculation linking Lampard with a move to a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur.

Pirlo, who has won three Serie A titles with AC Milan and Juventus, believes Lampard could continue playing for another four seasons in Italy, and would love the Englishman to make the move to Turin.

“They would be mad to let him leave Chelsea,” Pirlo told Tuttosport.

“He’s still one of the best in the world. If he wants to play in Italy I would welcome him to Juventus with open arms. Lampard could have another four years at the top in Italy.”

Lampard has scored six goals for Chelsea this season.
