Cristiano Ronaldo admits that Manchester United has a “place in my heart” amid speculation claiming the Real Madrid forward could be set to quit the Bernabéu.

The 27-year-old, who has been linked with a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain, has seen his Real Madrid future come under the spotlight since he declared himself “sad” in the Spanish capital for professional reasons back in September.

Ronaldo’s current contract is set to expire in 2015 and the Portugal captain admits he will feel some “sadness” when he faces his former club in the Champions League last 16 in February.

“I’ve got a lot of affection for my friends there [in Manchester],” said Ronaldo, who scored 118 goals for Manchester United.

“It’s a team that has played a large part in my career. People there know me well and the people I know there have a place in my heart.

“But now I play for Real Madrid; there will be some sadness [when Real Madrid take on United in the Champions League], but I want to win and score, and do my best.”

Ronaldo, however, did little to ease concerns that he is not prepared to extend his Real Madrid contract beyond 2015.

“This has already been spoken about and I’m not going to discuss my contract renewal any more,” he continued.

“It’s not the most important thing at the moment, the most important thing is winning our next matches.

“We’re fighting for the league, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. It’s not important until that’s over. It’s important we stick together.”
