Fabricio Coloccini is not looking to quit Newcastle United and return to Argentina, according to the defender’s agent.

The 30-year-old has been one of the Magpies standout performers in recent seasons, helping Alan Pardew’s side qualify for the Europa League last term.

Coloccini signed a new a four-year contract in March after joining Newcastle in 2008 after four seasons at Deportivo La Coruna.

The centre-half’s father, Osvaldo, on Thursday claimed that the Argentina international wants to seal a return to his former club San Lorenzo.

But the Newcastle captain’s agent Marcelo Lombilla emphatically quashed speculation of his client leaving the Magpies.

“The San Lorenzo thing arises because of a personal matter and because his father is at the club,” Lombilla told Radio 9.

“He only renewed his contract six months ago. These stories always create a buzz and generate illusions, but they are just that illusions and nothing more.

“I just cannot believe that these things are written.”
