QPR transfers: LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane insists he is unlikely to secure a loan move to the Premier League this month

Robbie Keane has all but ruled out a loan move the the Premier League in January, amid reported interest from QPR and Aston Villa.

The LA Galaxy striker has been linked with a temporary return to England during the MLS off-season, with both Harry Redknapp and Paul Lambert reportedly keen on luring the Republic of Ireland international back to the Premier League.

But the 32-year-old forward does not expect to seal a return to the English top flight this month, saying that the “time is not right”.

“It’s been a long season, with the Euros and what have you,” said Keane, who spent a loan spell at Aston Villa last January.

“I’ve a few little niggles that need to be sorted out so I don’t think at this moment in time it would be right for me to go anywhere.

“I had another year left and they offered me a new contract at the end of last season. I’ve just signed a new two-year contract.”
