Pablo Zabaleta scored a dramatic winner as Manchester City edged to a 1-0 victory over Stoke City in the FA Cup fourth round at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Everton secured a narrow 2-1 win against Championship opponents Bolton Wanderers, while Manchester United ran out comfortable winners against Fulham.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals in chronological order.

Citizens match-winner Zabaleta (‏@pablo_zabaleta) is relishing in a rare away win: “Always been difficult at Britannia Stadium but today the team showed again a very good spirit to go through into next round.”

City midfielder Samir Nasri (‏@SamNasri19) heaps praise on his stand-in captain: “Great day today, first run of the week after being ill, and great victory in the FA Cup. Top team performance and a fantastic Zabaleta goal.”

Everton defender Sylvain Distin (‏@sylvaind15tin) is pleased to make it into the fourth round: “Not a nice performance at all but great result and that is the most important thing. In the cup games only the result matter…”

Toffees skipper Phil Neville (‏@fizzer18) is delighted for his team-mate who netted the winner: “Pleased for @Johnheitinga great strike first goal of the season – West Brom at home now Wednesday, have a good night toffees!”

Leicester striker Paul Gallagher (‏@Gally_7) is satisfied despite a stalemate: “Good draw today and still in the cup, now back to the league .. #FACup.”

Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic ‏(@asmir1) admitted it was a tough day: “Tough loss for the team today! We need a bit more luck on our side. Onto the next one! #Beastmode #potternation”

Potters defender Robert Huth (‏@robert_huth) does praise the ball boys: “Tough game and very tough result! … Ball boys were good.”

West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster (‏@BenFoster) is pleased to see his former club do well: “Go on you Super Hornets!! Absolutely flying!!! Great win for Blues too, needed that so bad!!! #WFC #BCFC”

United defender Rio Ferdinand (‏@rioferdy5) was happy to see his old team-mate: “Nice 4-1 win against Fulham. Always nice to get an early goal to set us up nicely! Good to see Berbatov aka Andy Garcia(The Godfather), good & funny guy!”

However, former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris (‏@morriskid) reckons the Bulgarian is a difficult team-mate to work with: “Berbatov is a gifted footballer with the ball at his feet..but all this throwing his arms up at his team mates every two minutes isnt’t on for me.

Finally, having missed 70 minutes of City’s win, captain Vincent Kompany (@VincentKompany) is not impressed with ITV’s highlights show: “Was looking forward to the FA Cup highlights but ITV is absolutely sucking the live out of it with all those commercial breaks! #RT if agree!”
