Queens Park Rangers were the talk of transfer deadline day after Harry Redknapp completed deals for Chris Samba, Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend.

However, Peter Odemwingie’s arrival at Loftus Road ahead of what he thought was a move to QPR provided the biggest talking point, with the striker ultimately staying put at West Bromwich Albion.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction to Thursday’s breaking transfer news, going in chronological order throughout deadline day.

Newcaslte striker Samuel Ameobi ‏(@Sammy_Ameobi) is already feeling the effects of a busy transfer window: “Did a French versus rest of the world in training this morning…we smashed them 5-0 #thatsawkward!”

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson ‏(@Phil_Thompson4) is worried for the Hoops if their gamble doesn’t pay off: “If QPR go down with all this spending they could go into meltdown!”

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker ‏(@kyle28walker) is looking forward to an exciting day: “Always a great day on transfer deadline day! Comings and goings will they be any excitement #SkyDeadlineDay!”

Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar ‏(@therealstevenpi) hopes for some arrivals at Goodison Park: “Deadline day is crazy, hope we get some players in!”

While Sheffield Wednesday’s Jermaine Johnson ‏(@DaRealJJ11) quashes speculation about his future: “Rumours about me leaving #swfc makes me laugh. #Onelove”

Ipswich striker Michael Chopra ([email protected]) finds it funny to see another Newcastle fan sign for Sunderland: “Another Geordie signs for Sunderland lol! Wonder how many Mackems sign for the Toon #none.”

A current Magpies player Danny Simpson ‏(@dannysimpson) is ready for a day of transfer gossip: “Training done.. Off home to watch deadline day on @SkySportsNews, always an interesting day!”

Former Norwich star Iwan Roberts ‏(@iwanwroberts) is surprised by the size of the Canaries’ bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper: “So Norwich City bid £9.2m for Hooper!!”

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann ‏(@DietmarHamann) reckons the transfer window is open too long: “Can anyone give me a reason why the transfer window is open for four weeks when 95% of transfers are done on the last day #3daysisenough!”

Former Villa man Stan Collymore ([email protected]_) wants to see some new signings at his club: “Yes, I’m edgy.I want Villa to sign some players.”

Reds legend Robbie Fowler ‏(@Robbie9Fowler) finds Odemwingie’s desparation funny: “Odemwingie couldn’t get into QPR.. Brilliant, anyone else think he might just turn up at the gates of another Premier League team #justincase!”

Former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris ‏(@morriskid) can’t believe what’s unfolding: “Hold up..haha I know I’m late but..Odemwingie trying to get into Loftus Road and getting pied??? Hahahaha”

Is Arsenal forward Alex Ox-Chamberlain ‏(@Alex_OxChambo) offering to put the striker up? Doubtful: “Does Odemwingie need a place to stay tonight?”

Former Wimbledon striker Jason Euell ([email protected]) must have seen a lot during his Crazy Gang days, but this – apparently not: “Peter Odemwingie is on one. I think he’ll defo be seeing a doctor very soon!”

Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey ([email protected]) has endured enough drama for one night: “Goodnight Twitter .. Time for bed for me .. Adios.”

Former Bradford City manager Chris Kamara ([email protected]_kammy) sees why Hooper wanted to stay at Celtic: “Staying at @Celtic @hoop588 is desperate to play in knock-out stages of Champions League, deciding factor that keeps him at Celtic – good decision?”

Back to Odemwingie, and Reading striker Noel Hunt ‏(@boyhunt) feels for the West Brom man: “To be honest, I would blame Odemwingie’s agent for causing this!! Feel for the man in a way!! Someone messed something up big time!!”

Swansea striker Wayne Routledge ([email protected]) is thinking what most Twitter users are: “Where does Peter Odemwengie go from here?”

While, Everton midfielder Darron Gibson ([email protected]_gibson4) has come up with a smash hit for the Baggies man: “New song by Odemwingie, ‘Sign Me Maybe’…’Hey, I just drove here, and this is crazy, I’m in your car park, so sign me maybe’ hahaha class!”

Finally, QPR’s new signing Jermaine Jenas ‏(@jjenas8) is excited by his move but his sad to leave Spurs: “Finally home after a long day, just want to say a big thank you to all the Spurs fans that have supported me during my seven years at the club, delighted to have joined QPR and looking forward to getting started tomorrow at training and seeing all you fans on Saturday!”
