England beat New Zealand by five wickets to win the third one-day international and secure a 2-1 series win in Auckland.

Steven Finn starred with the ball, taking three wickets for 27 runs, before Alastair Cook produced a steady knock of 46, with Eoin Morgan and Jonathan Trott also contributing.

Former Everton midfielder Peter Reid ([email protected]) is planning a late night watching the cricket: “Love that Finn lad, no kip tonight. Football focus, heavy eyes!”

England wicketkeeper Matt Prior (@MattPrior13) is struggling to find the means to watch the ODI decider: “How can the game not be on in the hotel?!? What channel is it on in NZ guys? #NZvEng”

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann ‏(@DietmarHamann) can’t understand why New Zealand’s dangerman is so far down the order: “Good bowling by England …why does McCullum bat down the order? Without Guptill, he’ll come in at 50/4!”

England legend Sir Ian Botham ‏(@BeefyBotham) praises the tourists’ attack: “If England had batted 1st they would have scored 300+ on this wicket…our bowlers awesome….!!”

Former England captain Michael Vaughan ([email protected]) reckons Cook’s men will also dominate in the Test match: “Fantastic start to the NZ tour for England.. T20 and now ODI success… Expect very similar results for the test matches… My test team now would be…Cook, Compton, Trott, KP, Bell, Root, Prior, Swann, Broad, Jimmy, Finn … Jonny B hasn’t done enough to state his case.”
