The 23-year-old playmaker was one of PSV’s standout performers last season as his seven goals in 42 appearances fired the Eindhoven outfit to a second-place finish in the Eredivisie.
It has prompted interest from the Red Devils, while Roma are also keen to bring the midfielder to Italy’s capital this summer.
But PSV technical director Marcel Brands is adamant the club don’t want to sell Strootman after already losing Erik Pieters, Dries Mertens and Jeremain Lens this summer.
“Roma have contacted us to tell us that they are interested in Kevin Strootman,” Brands told Fox Sports.
“We have told Roma that Strootman is not for sale, and only an important offer could convince us otherwise.
“In our opinion, Roma is the only club to be interested in Strootman, but they have made no offer.”
Meanwhile, Strootman’s agent Chiel Dekker revealed the Netherlands international hasn’t spoken to Roma about a move.
Dekker told De Telegraaf: “We are aware of the interest and the communication between PSV and Roma, but we will only come into action when Marcel Brands gives the signal that both clubs have come to an agreement.”
