The Belgium international sealed a season-long move to Goodison Park and has already scored four goals in three Premier League appearances for the Toffees.
And the 20-year-old, who last week revealed that he asked to leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular football, is determined to out-score the strikers at Mourinho’s disposal in west London.
“The coach decides and as a player you have to respect that,” Lukaku, who spent last season on loan to West Bromwich Albion, told Het Nieuwsblad.
“I chose to leave and it’s up to me to prove the coach wrong.
“The only thing I can do is play well and score a lot. And then I think people will say that I’m a good player.
“I want to score more goals than the strikers of Chelsea. We will see at the end of the season who made the best choice.”
