Mario Mandzukic is not for sale amid reported interest from Arsenal, insists Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The Croatia international has been touted as a potential Arsenal target in the January transfer window as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options at the north
London side.

We are willing to sign a new contract with him

Bayern agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski on Saturday and the Polish forward will join the Champions League holders when his contract expires this summer.

But Bayern chairman Rummenigge is adamant the Bavarian outfit won’t sell Mandzukic despite securing Lewandowski’s signature, hinting the club are prepared to offer the striker a new deal.

“We are absolutely content with Mario Mandzukic. He has outperformed our expectation and we will keep him at Bayern Munich,” Rummenigge said.

“We are willing to sign a new contract with him and I don’t think he would be against those talks.”
