Walcott underwent the procedure on Saturday after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during last Saturday’s FA Cup win over Tottenham.
The 24-year-old has been ruled out for the rest of the season but appeared in good spirits alongside Gibbs following the operation.
Gibbs posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “Great to see this guy today! Successful Op, now road to recovery #arsenal #walcott
“I can’t believe he tried to blame his FIFA loss on “feeling drowsy”
Speaking on Friday, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insisted that he is sure that Walcott will continue where he left off when he returns to action.
Wenger said: “I’m convinced ]Walcott can come back from this]. Studies show that the players around 25 with that kind of injury, they come back as normal.
“When you are over 30, over 29 you do not ever come back exactly the same. But between 25 and 28 you come back to the level you had before.
“He has said to me he is under shock but he will fight as ever to come back. He is strong mentally and, if you look at his career, he has had a few setbacks, a few disappointments.”
