Petr Cech has warned Chelsea that there is still a “long, long way to go” in the Premier League title race.

The Blues moved to the summit of the table thanks to Eden Hazard’s hat-trick as the west London side were 3-0 winners against Newcastle United on Saturday.

We know nothing is done yet. We haven’t won anything yet and there is still a long, long way to go.

And Cech is adamant that Jose Mourinho’s men will relish the pressure of being the pace-setters as the season reaches its climax.

“If you are ahead, you know that if you keep winning nobody can catch you. If you are behind, you know you have to be winning and hope that everybody slips up,” Cech said.

“Being in first I would say you are in the better position because you still have to win all the games but you don’t have to look back if you keep doing that.

“When you are part of it, you are just concentrating on making sure you are not the one dropping points. That is the main target and we have got a very good run of games where we want to carry the momentum.”

The Chelsea No1 added: “We know nothing is done yet. We haven’t won anything yet and there is still a long, long way to go. But once you go top, you know if you win every game you have a big chance to achieve what you want.

“We are aware of the quality of the sides around us and know one little moment when you fall asleep and you can be back behind again. We would like to stay on top as long as we can.”
