The England international hasn’t featured for the north London club since a 2-1 loss to West Ham United in December due to a hamstring injury.
He’s champing at the bit to return
The 22-year-old was one of Tottenham’s standout performers in the early part of the season, scoring once in 14 Premier League appearances.
And Sherwood revealed that Townsend has a chance of facing top-four rivals Everton on Sunday.
“We’re positive on Andros and he has a chance (for Everton), he’s up for selection,” said Sherwood. “He’s champing at the bit to return.”
Meanwhile, Belgium international Mousa Dembele missed Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Hull City at the KC Stadium last weekened after picking up an ankle injury.
However, Sherwood expects the former Fulham midfielder to be in contention to earn a starting spot for the clash against the Toffees.
“He’s fine. He’s back out training again and he’s in the frame to start against Everton,” Sherwood added.
