Erik Lamela, Vlad Chiriches and Sandro have all been ruled out of Tottenham’s clash with Everton due to injury, Tim Sherwood has confirmed.

Lamela has picked up thigh and back problems and the Spurs boss confirmed that the trio, who all sat out last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Hull City, will also miss Sunday’s game against the Toffees at White Hart Lane.

Hopefully we’re making progress, I couldn’t put a time on it

“Erik is injured,” said Sherwood. “He’s had a thigh injury and he’s had a niggle in his back. We’re still assessing him, along with Vlad Chiriches and Sandro. They’re the three who are not available for the weekend.

“The medical staff keep monitoring the situation. I keep asking from an update, and they keep telling me that we’ll just have to investigate a little bit further. Hopefully we’re making progress, I couldn’t put a time on it.”

Meanwhile, Andros Townsend is in contention for the game after an eight-week lay-off with a hamstring injury. Mousa Dembele should also be available after recovering from an ankle injury.

Tottenham head into Sunday’s game against top-four rivals Everton sixth in the Premier League table and three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
