The 23-year-old playmaker was replaced by Andre Schurrle in the 17th minute at Stamford Bridge, before the Blues booked their place in the semi-finals thanks to a 2-0 win over the Ligue 1 champions.
Even when they are not serious, you cannot play for a couple of weeks
Hazard said that he noticed a problem with his calf while warming up in west London and decided it best not to risk causing further damage early on in the game.
“I already felt some pain in my calf during the warm-up,” Hazard told Canal Plus.
“I didn’t want to take a risk.”
Meanwhile, manager Jose Mourinho speculated that Hazard would be out of action for at least two weeks due to the injury.
“It is a calf problem, but I have no idea the dimension of his injury,” said Mourinho.
“Even when they are not serious, you cannot play for a couple of weeks.”
If Hazard is sidelined for a fortnight, the Belgium international will miss the Premier League encounters with Swansea and Sunderland.
