Liverpool’s clash against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday feels like a title decider, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Reds have the chance to move seven points clear of the Citizens, who have played two games less than Brendan Rodgers’s men.

City and Liverpool are the favourites to win the top-flight crown after back-to-back away losses dented Chelsea’s chances.

And former Liverpool centre-half Carragher is predicting plenty of goals between two of the league’s most attacking sides.

“There is a month of the campaign to go but it feels like the title decider,” Carragher wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“A draw would let Chelsea back in, assuming they beat Swansea, but the way Liverpool and City are playing, there should be goals. Liverpool need three points.

“City, with a game in hand, would be the happier if it is a stalemate.”

Liverpool’s potential decider with City will kick-off at 13.37 GMT on Sunday in memory of the supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

And Carragher sees similarities between Liverpool’s title challenge in 2009 and their current bid to end a 24-year wait to lift the top-flight crown.

“Incidentally, the last time Liverpool were involved in a title race, in 2009, it came in the year of a significant Hillsborough anniversary,” Carragher added.

“We finished second that season, despite our best efforts. It would be fitting, then, if Brendan Rodgers and his squad could go one step better this time.”
