The Reds moved two points clear of Chelsea and a further seven ahead of third-placed Manchester City after a 3-2 victory over Manuel Pellegrini’s men at Anfield on Sunday.
They’re very close to the finishing line. After 10 wins and confidence sky high, you wouldn’t put it past them to win it now
The Citizens can reduce Liverpool’s lead to six points if the 2012 English champions win their two games in hand, but the Reds are 8/11 favourites to lift the Premier League tropby.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard delivered a rousing team talk on the pitch following the final whistle, and Reds legend Hamann admitted he has never seen his former team-mate so “emotional”.
“I think you’ve seen his reaction after the final whistle. He’s pulled the lads together and said don’t get complacent with four games to go,” Hamann told Sky Sports News.
“I played with him for a long time but I’ve never seen him as emotional as this. This shows how much it would means to him. It’s the only trophy he’s not won with Liverpool.
“What a fitting tribute to his Anfield career if he was to win the title. They’ve got a terrific chance and it is still in their own hands.
