PSV Eindhoven have insisted that Manchester United have not made a formal approach to sign defender Santiago Arias.

The Red Devils have been linked with a £6m bid for the 22-year-old in recent weeks as David Moyes prepares for the departure of captain Nemanja Vidic to Inter Milan at the end of the season.

But PSV director Marcel Brands says that there has been no official bid from the Premier League side for the Colombia international.

“We don’t know anything about any interest [from United],” Brands told Algemeen Dagblad.

“No team has made a formal approach for Santiago, but we do know that Arias is an interesting player for a number of teams.

“He is an attacking full-back and a Colombia international who will play at the World Cup for one of the top six countries.”

Arias has scored one goal and made two assists in 23 league appearances for the Dutch club this season.
