Sergio Ramos insists that Real Madrid would relish being drawn against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Blues booked their place in the last-four draw thanks to a dramatic 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their quarter-final on Tuesday night.

Madrid, meanwhile, scraped through with a 3-2 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund to join Jose Mourinho’s side in the semi-finals.

“Getting Chelsea would neither work for or against us,” said Ramos.

“To win the Champions League, you have to beat the best teams and Chelsea deserve to be there.”

Ramos insisted that Madrid deserved to progress to the last four, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat in the second leg of their quarter-final tie in Dortmund.

“I have a lot of respect for the way Dortmund played,” Ramos continued. “They have a great team and tonight they had the support of their fans too – they didn’t reach the final last season for nothing.

“Dortmund are a great club with a team that demands respect. We showed them a lot of respect in spite of our first-leg victory and had various problems.

“We improved in the second half and enjoyed a bit more possession than before the break. Overall, I think we deserved to go through.”
