Theo Walcott believes that Raheem Sterling has a great chance of being called up to the England squad for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

The Liverpool winger has been in fine form this season, scoring six goals and making three assists in 28 Premier League appearances for the Reds.

Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have helped his game too, but it’s not just that

And Walcott, who is set to miss the tournament due to a knee injury, feels that the 19-year-old is very much in contention for a call-up to Roy Hodgson’s squad.

“The manager has some great young players to pick from,” Walcott told the Sun.

“Raheem has had a great season and been very consistent.

“Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have helped his game too, but it’s not just that, he has had more assists, he tracks back and works hard for the team.

“He has a great opportunity. Then there’s [Everton’s] Ross Barkley, [Tottenham Hotspur’s] Andros Townsend and [Gunners teammate] Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain too.”

Sterling, who made his full international debut back in November 2012, currently has just two senior England caps to his name.
