The Gunners slumped to a 3-0 loss at Goodison Park on Sunday as goals from Steven Naismith, Romelu Lukaku and a Mikel Arteta own-goal dented the north London side’s hopes of a top-four finish.
It’s time as well for the referees to turn up with performances when it matters
Yaya Sanogo had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half on Merseyside – and Wenger was unhappy with some key decisions from the officials.
“We have lost a little bit of confidence, you could see that against Everton,” said Wenger on Thursday.
“I still would like to say – I don’t dispute at all that we have not played well – but the second goal was offside, the third goal was a foul, and the goal we scored was not offside.
“So it’s time as well for the referees to turn up with performances when it matters.”
Asked to go into more detail, Wenger continued: “I don’t want to complain about that. Our main thing is what we can produce ourselves is important.
“I just think in some games, like Chelsea and Everton, the decisions went wrong for us.
“But I suppose that every club could come out at the end of the season and say that so we don’t want to focus on that. We want to focus on our performances.”
