Arsène Wenger has been linked with a move for Alvaro Morata

Álvaro Morata won’t be allowed to leave the Bernabeu until Real Madrid sign a new striker, according to AS.

Morata’s patience is wearing thin after Carlo Ancelotti stated that they player isn’t in his plans for the new season and both the coach and the club are keen for Morata to gain more playing time.

The Spain Under-21 international is keen to seal his move elsewhere as quickly as possible to be able to complete the full pre-season with whichever club he decides to join.

Real Madrid are in no hurry and furthermore, insist that Morata will not be transferred until they have brought in a replacement.

It’s a complicated situation for the youth team graduate who racked up just 575 minutes on-field in the league last term and netted eight goals.

Morata is under contract with Real Madrid until 2015 and club officials are prepared to wait.

Club directors have yet to meet with Morata’s agent who has received an offer from Juventus with the player taking home €11m over five seasons.

As Madrid see it, they have three options open to them.

The first, is to let Morata go without a repurchase option. The asking price would be around €30m – too high a fee for Manchester United, Juventus and Arsenal, who are believed to be interested in the striker.

It’s a subtle way of ensuring that Morata doesn’t go to Madrid’s direct rivals in European competition.

The second option would be to let Morata leave for €18-25m but retain an option to buy the player back. It would open up a range of possible destinations for the player, including Inter Milan, Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur.

This is the ideal scenario as far as Madrid are concerned as they would maintain some control over Morata’s evolution.

The third option would be to offer a contract extension then farm Morata out on loan for a season with Villarreal. The player is against this idea however, unless Madrid agree to equal the offer which Juve have tabled (a €2.2m annual salary).
