Calum Chambers is thrilled to join one of Europe’s top clubs after completing his £16m switch to Arsenal.

The Southampton youth graduate has put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the north London side, becoming the Gunners’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

Chambers made his debut for the Saints on the opening day of the Premier League season, going on to rack up a further 22 top-flight appearances during the 2013/14 campaign.

And 19-year-old Chambers, who is expected to feature in The Emirates Cup next week, thanked Southampton for their valuable contribution to his career.

“I am so happy to be signing for Arsenal,” Chambers told Arsenal’s website.

“They are a team I have much admired for their playing style, and a team who have been one of the top sides in Europe for many years.

“I’m looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates today and beginning preparation for the season ahead.

“I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone at Southampton FC for everything they have done for me and for making this move possible.”
