Jose Mourinho has reiterated that Fernando Torres is staying at Chelsea despite signing Diego Costa and Didier Drogba this summer.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a return to La Liga amid reported interest from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, who sold Torres to Liverpool in 2007.

We have three strikers in Didier, Diego, and Fernando, so he won’t be leaving, no

Torres scored five goals and made five assists in 28 Premier League appearances last season season despite Mourinho has chopping and changing his misfiring front-men.

However, the 51-year-old Chelsea manager underlined his desire to keep Torres to provide vital depth to his Blue squad this coming season.

“Three strikers is fundamental [for the squad] and we have three strikers in Didier, Diego, and Fernando, so he won’t be leaving, no,” Mourinho told Sky Sports News.

“We have a good squad, the perfect squad would be with 18 players, not 17, but rules are rules and we’re working hard not to have these kind of problems in future and to have more English players in the squad.”
