Adam Lallana says he has joined Liverpool to win trophies after the England international completed his £25m move on Tuesday morning.

The 26-year-old midfielder has penned a long-term deal with the 18-time English champions after passing a medical at the Merseyside club’s Melwood training ground.

I hope I can add something to the team and hopefully we can win trophies while I’m here

Lallana was part of a Southampton side that thrilled the Premier League last season as the playmaker scored nine goals and made six assists in 38 appearances.

And the former Bournemouth youth team player admitted he felt humbled to be joining a club of Liverpool’s stature after helping the Saints climb from League One to the top-flight.

“I’m so excited for the next chapter of my career, coming to a special club like Liverpool. I’m quite humbled and I just can’t wait to get started,” Lallana told Liverpool’s website.

“Hopefully I can settle in quickly, and I will give it my best throughout the whole time I’m here. I hope I can add something to the team and hopefully we can win trophies while I’m here, because that’s why I’m here – for success.”

Lallana, who was named on the Premier League team of the year, made 250 appearances for Southampton between August 2006 and May 2014, hitting 58 goals in total and becoming club captain in 2012.
