Simon Mignolet believes Liverpool target Divock Origi can become a top Premier League striker.

The 19-year-old forward is reported to be close to sealing a move to Liverpool which would see the Belgium international return to Lille on loan next season.

He’s got all the qualities you need to become a top striker in the Premier League

The Belgian striker sparkled during the World Cup after scoring his country’s winner against Russia, resulting in back-to-back starts in the knockout stage.

And Belgium and Liverpool goalkeeper Mignolet is backing the Reds’s pursuit of Origi, who is also being chased by Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur.

“He did really well for Belgium,” Mignolet said of a player also linked with Tottenham. “We didn’t know that much about him but he came in and showed something to the outside world.

“He’s definitely got ability; he’s strong and quick, he’s got skill, he can score a goal as well, so he’s got all the qualities you need to become a top striker in the Premier League.”

Origi scored five goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille last season.
