The Liverpool star was given a nine-game suspension and banned from all football-related activity for four months after he bit the defender during Uruguay’s World Cup win over Italy last week.
The 27-year-old, who has been banned three times for biting in his career, has since issued a full apology for the incident and vowed that it would not happen again.
And former England international Lineker tweeted that the apology could be linked to a move to Camp Nou.
Linker wrote: “Suarez has finally apologised for biting saying it will never happen again. I hear that Barca insisted on apology if transfer is to proceed.”
Suarez’s apology read: “After several days of being home with my family, I have had the opportunity to regain my calm and reflect about the reality of what occurred during the Italy-Uruguay match on 24 June 2014.
“Independent from the fallout and the contradicting declarations that have surfaced during these past days, all of which have been without the intention of interfering with the good performance of my national team, the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me.
“I deeply regret what occurred. I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family. I vow to the public that there will never be another incident like this involving me.”
