Robben has been a vital part of Van Gaal’s current Holland side which came third at the World Cup, scoring three goals and making one assist.

Despite his close working relationship with the new United manager, Robben rubbished reports that he is set to join the Red Devils.

“I have a special bond with him. He is the most important coach in my career,” Robben said.

“(Moving to United) is not an option though. I will stay at Bayern Munich.”

Robben scored 15 goals in 67 appearances for Chelsea during three Premier League seasons before moving to Real Madrid in 2007.
