James Rodriguez has urged Colombia midfielder Juan Cuadrado to join Barcelona this summer.

The Colombia international has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United following a series of eye-catching performances at the World Cup in Brazil.

I hope that the deal goes through, he is a great friend of mine

Cuadrado scored one goal and made four assists in five World Cup games as Colombia reached the World Cup quarter-finals, losing 2-1 to hosts Brazil.

And Rodriguez, who completed a £65m move to Madrid last month, urged Cuadrado to follow in his footsteps and move to La Liga.

“I hope that the deal goes through, he is a great friend of mine,” Rodriguez told Radio Caracol this week.

“If he were to arrive, it would open the door to other Colombians, because we would have many playing at great clubs.”

Cuadrado scored 11 goals and made five assists in 32 Serie A appearances last season.
