Manchester United have reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Daley Blind, the Premier League club has confirmed.

The Red Devils announced the news on their official Twitter account, posting: “Manchester United has reached agreement with Ajax to sign Daley Blind, subject to a medical and personal terms.

“A further announcement will be made when the process is complete.”

United have been heavily linked with a swoop for the Ajax defender this summer as Louis van Gaal looks to shore up his rearguard options at Old Trafford.

Blind, who can play at left-back, centre-half, left wing and central midfield, has long been a target for Van Gaal, who coached him in the Dutch national team.

Blind made 29 league appearances for Ajax last season, scoring one goal and making one assist.
