Mikel Arteta and Kieran Gibbs remain sidelined for Arsenal’s Premier League trip to Leicester City on Sunday, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

Captain Arteta has been out since picking up an ankle problem during the first leg of the Gunner’s Champions League play-off against Besiktas last week.

Gibbs, meanwhile, has not featured since suffering a hamstring strain during the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace earlier this month.

And Wenger confirmed that the duo would not be ready for his side’s trip to the King Power Stadium this weekend.

“Arteta will be short for Sunday and Gibbs as well,” said Wenger. “We don’t have any injuries from Wednesday night.”

Wenger also revealed that new goalkeeper David Ospina is nearing a return from a thigh injury. He added: “Ospina is back to full training but may be short for Sunday.”

Arsenal will also have Aaron Ramsey available for selection again after the midfielder missed Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Besiktas through suspension.
