Danny Welbeck is confident that he has made the right decision joining Arsenal from Manchester United.

The England international made the controversial £16m move from the Red Devils to their bitter rivals Arsenal on transfer deadline day on Monday.

I just think this is the next stage of my development – to come to Arsenal, to really show people what I can do as a footballer

Welbeck has signed a long-term deal with the north London side, adding much-needed firepower to Arsene Wenger’s squad following Olivier Giroud’s injury blow.

The 23-year-old had struggled to push on at United following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, and Welbeck feels his Arsenal move will prove key to his continued development.

“Things move on in life and I think you’ve really got to make the right decision in the situation that you’re in at that moment in time,” Welbeck told Arsenal’s website.

“I really do believe that coming to Arsenal is the right decision.”

Welbeck added: “I’ve been at United ever since I was a little boy and I had a great time there.

“I just think this is the next stage of my development – to come to Arsenal, to really show people what I can do as a footballer and hopefully get to the place where I want to be.”
