Jordan Henderson has heaped praise on the “clever” Raheem Sterling following his recent impressive performances for England and Liverpool.

The teenager was the man of the match as the Three Lions sealed a 1-0 friendly win over Norway at Wembley on Wednesday night in their first game since the World Cup.

He’s really clever with his positioning. He drives forward the ball

Sterling has emerged as one of England’s brightest prospects and enjoyed a stellar campaign for Liverpool last season.

And his international and club team-mate Henderson has been thoroughly impressed by Sterling’s recent form.

“Raheem has been outstanding since he’s come into the England first team,” said Henderson.

“I thought he was outstanding in both games at the World Cup. For a 19-year-old to play on the world stage like that I thought he was magnificent.

“He’s really clever with his positioning. He drives forward the ball. Hopefully he can continue improving and working hard.

“Raheem plays with no fear. He just wants to get the ball, run at people and take them on.”
