Chelsea have confirmed that Loic Remy will wear the number 18 shirt for the west London club.

The France striker joined the Blues from Queens Park Rangers last weekend following Fernando Torres’ exit to AC Milan on a two-year loan deal.

The 27-year-old will wear the number vacated by Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian’s permanent transfer to Everton.

Remy scored 14 goals in 26 appearances for Newcastle last season after spending the campaign on loan to the Premier League club.

Remy signed a four-year deal with Chelsea on Sunday in a deal believed to be worth £10.5m.

“I feel very happy and very proud,” said Remy. “When I heard Chelsea wanted to sign me I said ‘let’s go’.”
