Phil Neville has welcomed the capture of Radamel Falcao – but the former Manchester United defender has urged Louis van Gaal to sign a centre-half.

The Red Devils are expected to complete the big-name signing of Falcao on loan from Monaco on Monday, costing the Red Devils a reported £20m.

Falcao, who had been linked with United’s rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, will add further firepower to the Red Devils’s attack.

However, Neville feels United need to land a centre-half before the transfer deadline at 23.00 BST on Monday night.

United have been previously linked with a move to sign Borussia Dortmund and Germany centre-half Mats Hummels despite Jurgen Klopp insisting the 25-year-old won’t be leaving the club.

Earlier on Monday, Neville showed his joy at news of Falcao’s imminent move to the 20-time English champions on Twitter.
